Understanding Budget Statement
Definition
A Budget Statement is a financial overview feature in Easy8. It displays totals of:
- Planned income and expenses – values you expect to reach.
- Real income and expenses – values based on real data (e.g. time entries, invoices).
It gives you clear information about the financial health of your project or entire portfolio.
How It Works
- Budget Statements are available on each project budget page and on global dashboards.
- The table shows planned and real values for each item.
- Time grouping (e.g. per month, year) can be changed.
- Data sources for real values include:
- Logged time (based on user rate settings)
- Invoices (if CRM & invoicing are used)
- Manually entered expenses/income
You can sort, filter, and export the statement.
The statement includes:
- Planned values – entered manually by users.
- Real values – pulled from system data.
- Difference – calculated automatically to show gaps.
Examples
- If you plan 12,000 € in income for the year but record only 9,000 € from invoices and time logs, the statement shows:
- Planned: 12,000 €
- Real: 9,000 €
- Difference: -3,000 €
- A monthly grouping shows each month separately, useful for spotting trends.
Corner Situations
Warning
Dynamic filters are not supported on all pages using the Budget Statement plugin. When active, they may cause incorrect or missing data to appear.
Notice
If you don't have permission to see subprojects, your Budget Statement totals will not include those subprojects. Different users might see different numbers.
Conclusion
The Budget Statement is a powerful tool for comparing planned and real project finances. It provides insights to help keep budgets under control.
