💡 Tip: Repeating must be enabled both globally and per tracker to use it on tasks of that type.
How to Set Up Repeating Tasks
Step 1: Open the Task and Access Repeating Options
- Open a task where repeating should be set.
- Click Edit.
- Scroll down and click Edit Additional Attributes.
- Locate the field labeled Repeat?
- Choose one of the available repeat options (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly) to start configuration.
- Once a repeat type is selected, an End field appears with the following options:
- Never – task repeats indefinitely
- After X repeats – stops after a set number of occurrences
- On a specific date – stops on a chosen date
Step 2: Configure Recurrence Rules
- If you need more control over the repetition, select Advanced in the Repeat? field.
- This will open the Advanced Repeating Settings popup where you can configure additional options:
- Repeat Type – choose one of the following:
- Daily – repeats every set number of days or workdays
- Weekly – repeats on selected weekdays
- Monthly – repeats on the same date each month
- Yearly – repeats annually
- Setting Beginning and End of Repeats:
- Start Date – choose when the first occurrence starts
- End Options:
- Never – continues indefinitely
- After X iterations – stops after a set number of occurrences
- On a specific date – ends on a selected date
- Generate Task in Advance – define how early the system should create the next task
- Create a Record at a Given Hour – specify the exact time when a repeated task is created
- Create Records Now? – decide how many tasks should be created immediately:
- Don’t create now – tasks generate as per schedule
- Create all now – generates all occurrences at once (up to 31 tasks at once due to performance limits)
- Create now X records – define how many future instances should be created immediately
- Click Submit to apply and activate the recurrence pattern.
💡 Tip: The Advanced option in the Repeat? field opens this detailed configuration panel for custom recurrence settings.
Step 3: Manage and Track Repeated Tasks
- Automatically generated tasks appear in your task list as standard tasks.
- They inherit selected values from the source task.
- The original task will be marked as Repeating.
- To stop the repetition, open the original task and click Remove Repeating.
Troubleshooting
- Repeat? field missing: Ensure the feature is enabled in both global and tracker settings.
- Tasks not generating: Double-check the recurrence pattern, date range, and frequency values.
Conclusion
You’ve successfully enabled and configured repeating tasks in Easy8. This feature helps automate recurring processes and reduces the need for manual task creation.
