Introduction
This guide will show you how to map GitLab users to Easy8 users. This is useful for correctly assigning authorship, reviews, and time tracking when using GitLab integration. By following these steps, you’ll ensure all GitLab activity is properly linked to the correct Easy8 users.
Target Audience
- Administrator
Prerequisites
- Git Integration enabled and working in Easy8
- Access to user profiles in both Easy8 and GitLab
- Permission to edit user profiles in Easy8
How to Set GitLab User Mapping
Step 1: Match Emails in Both Applications
- Open the user profile in GitLab
- Check the email used for the account
- Open the corresponding user profile in Easy8
- Make sure the email address is the same as in GitLab
Why it matters: User mapping is done automatically via the email address. Matching emails ensures GitLab activity is linked to the right Easy8 user.
Step 2: Add a Secondary Email (Optional)
If the user cannot unify emails across both systems:
- Go to the user profile in Easy8
- Find the field to add Additional email
- Enter the GitLab email address there
This allows Easy8 to recognize the GitLab user even if the main email doesn't match.
Conclusion
You have successfully set up user mapping between GitLab and Easy8. This ensures correct authorship, reviews, and time logs are connected to the right users in your system.
