Understanding Milestones in Roadmap
Definition
In Easy8, the Roadmap project tab (module) provides an overview of a project’s milestones and their associated tasks. Users can:
- View a list of project milestones
- Control which milestones and tasks are shown using Roadmap options
- See only relevant data based on their current project phase or filter criteria
Roadmap Options
The Roadmap options button lets users filter the content shown under the Roadmap tab:
- Choose which milestones to display
- Select which tasks to show under each milestone
This works similarly to a filter. Users can, for example:
- Exclude completed milestones
- Hide tasks from subprojects
- Omit closed tasks or specific trackers
This ensures that the Roadmap view remains relevant and clear.
Milestone Statuses
Each milestone can have one of the following statuses, which can be changed anytime in the milestone’s edit mode:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Open | The milestone is active. Tasks can still be assigned to it. It appears in the roadmap. |
| Locked | The milestone appears in the roadmap, but tasks can no longer be assigned to it. |
| Closed | The milestone is finalized. It is no longer shown in the roadmap and does not accept tasks. |
Conclusion
Milestones in the roadmap are flexible and filterable, helping users manage progress across tasks and timelines. By using roadmap options and understanding milestone statuses, teams can ensure clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
