Prerequisites
- Scrum plugin must be active
- Team Sprint Board must be linked to an active sprint
- Product Backlog and Sprint Overview Board are set up
- Sticky note templates are optionally prepared
How to Use the Team Sprint Board
Step 1: Open the Board
- Go to the Sprint Overview Board
- Click on the linked Team Sprint Board
- The board shows your team's PBIs and sticky notes under three columns: To Do, Realization, Done
🎯 Use this board during daily standups to review and update progress.
Step 2: Add and Manage Sticky Notes
- Click the ➕ icon on a PBI to add a sticky note
- Sticky notes represent steps to complete the PBI (e.g. “Review feedback”, “Submit form to API”)
- You can:
- Add from templates
- Use emojis or colors to label purpose or difficulty
- Change text or assignee
💡 Tip: Sticky notes work like sub-tasks but are lighter and faster to manage.
Step 3: Use Swimlanes for Structure
- Swimlanes help separate work visually
- You can use swimlanes for:
- User stories
- Goals
- Assignees
- Move PBIs or notes between lanes to adjust focus
🔍 This helps organize your sprint delivery clearly.
Step 4: Track and Complete Work
- Drag sticky notes across columns as they progress
- “To Do” → “Realization” → “Done”
- When all sticky notes under a PBI are done, mark the PBI as completed
📌 Corner case: Swimlanes may reset if PBIs are unassigned or not linked to the correct team.
Step 5: Keep it Simple – 3 Columns Only
- The Team Sprint Board works with 3 columns only
- If you need more stages (e.g. “Testing”, “QA Review”), consider using the Kanban Board instead
- Sticky notes are flexible enough to reflect internal steps within “Realization”
⚠️ Use sticky notes instead of creating too many custom statuses.
Conclusion
The Team Sprint Board is a daily working space for each development team. It helps you visualize progress, update work using sticky notes, and structure delivery with swimlanes. For full flexibility beyond three columns, combine Scrum boards with Kanban.
