How to Set Roles and Permissions for Agile Project Management
Introduction
This article will show you how to correctly set global and project-level permissions in Easy8 to use Scrum and Kanban boards.
Target Audience
User
Prerequisites
- You must have administrator access to modify permissions.
- Scrum or Kanban boards must be enabled in project modules.
Steps
1. Open Roles and Permissions
To manage permissions, navigate to:
Global menu >> Administration >> Roles and Permissions
Select a role that you want to manage. Each role can be configured to allow or restrict Agile board access.
2. Set Global Permissions
Under each role, scroll to the sections related to Agile tools:
Scrum boards
- ✅ View Scrum Boards
- ✅ Manage Scrum Boards
Agile Board
- ✅ View global sprint list
- ✅ View global Scrum dashboard
- ✅ Manage global Scrum dashboard
Agile Resources
- ✅ View Agile Resource Management
- ✅ Manage Agile Resource Management
3. Set Project-Level Permissions
Permissions on the project level are applied to the user based on their membership in the project and the role assigned to them.
To define what users can do in specific projects, go to:
Global menu >> Projects >> [choose a project] >> Project controls >> Members
Check which role the user has in that project, then configure that role in:
Global menu >> Administration >> Roles and Permissions >> [select role]
Under that role, make sure the following are set:
Project scrum board
- ✅ View Scrum board
- ✅ Manage sprint backlog
- ✅ Edit Scrum board
Kanban board
- ✅ View Kanban board
- ✅ Edit Kanban board
Result
Users can now access and manage Agile boards based on their role. Project-based roles grant permissions only within the assigned project.
Tips
- Permissions may differ between global and project scopes. Always check both if something is not working.
- You can create custom roles if the default ones do not fit your needs.
