Prerequisites
- You must have an active project with the Project scrum board module enabled.
- You should be a member of the project with a role that allows working with Scrum boards.
How to Create and Configure a New Sprint
Step 1: Open the Scrum board
- Open your project
- Click the Scrum board tab in the top project menu
📌 If you don’t see this tab, ask an administrator to check that the module is enabled via Project controls >> Modules.
Step 2: Open Scrum settings
Case A: No sprints exist yet
If this is the first sprint on the project, you’ll be automatically redirected to the New sprint setup wizard.
Case B: A sprint already exists
- Open the Scrum board tab
- In the top-right corner, open the right-side menu (click the icon with sliders)
- Click Scrum boards
- Click the New sprint button
Step 3: Fill Out Sprint Details
In the sprint creation form, complete the following fields:
- Name: Enter a sprint name
- Goal for this sprint: Optionally add a sprint goal
- Start date and Due date: Define the timebox
- Milestone: Link a milestone (optional)
- Use tasks from all projects: If needed
- Show tasks closed in the last "n" days
- Burndown chart: Choose how progress is tracked
- Capacity: Set a numeric capacity (0 = no limit)
Task move options:
- Do not move tasks
- Move tasks from selected sprint
- Move tasks from all sprints
Click Save when done.
Step 4: Fill in the Sprint Backlog
After saving the sprint, you'll be redirected to the backlog view. Here, you can:
- Move PBIs into the sprint
- Use drag & drop to organize work
- Ensure tasks are assigned to the correct team board
📌 Tasks must have a supported tracker and estimate to appear properly.
Step 5: (Optional) Customize Progress States
If needed, go to Scrum settings and define custom progress states:
- Assign task statuses to visual columns (e.g. In Progress, Testing)
- Choose whether to auto-assign users or auto-change task status when a card moves
This helps reflect your team’s actual workflow during the sprint.
Conclusion
You’ve now created and configured a sprint in Easy8. Whether it’s your first one or an additional sprint, you can now start tracking work using the Sprint Overview and Team Sprint Boards.
