Traceability matrix

Traceability matrix

Use the traceability matrix to get a full overview of which test cases cover which requirements in your project.

Export the traceability matrix from the same export function used for artifacts (see Import and export of artifacts); the exported file now includes the test case coverage columns.

The matrix lists every artifact (Sections, Requirements, and Change requests) alongside the test cases connected to it, together with each test case's last execution date and author. Requirements and test cases are not linked directly — the connection is made through the shared task: a requirement is linked to one or more tasks, and a test case is linked to one or more tasks as well. Wherever a task connects both, the requirement and the test case appear together in the matrix.

Large projects use the traceability matrix for audits and formal reporting, to demonstrate that all requirements are covered by test cases.
