Trackers in Administration
Definition
Trackers are categories for tasks used throughout Easy8. Each tracker type helps define:
- What kind of activity a task represents
- Which fields and behaviors are applied to it
- What projects and custom fields it is used in
Examples of trackers include:
- Task – Generic planned activity
- Issue – Unplanned problem or task
- Bug – Software error to be fixed
- Ticket – Helpdesk task
Each tracker also has a default status and description, and appears in a structured list in the Administration interface.
How It Works
When the Trackers section is opened:
- A list of all existing trackers is displayed
- Each line shows the tracker’s name, default status, and description
- Inline actions allow administrators to copy or delete a tracker directly from the list
Clicking on a tracker name opens its detail view, where administrators can:
- Edit its name, icon, default status, and description
- Choose a color code for easy visual identification
- Select its availability across projects
- Link it to specific custom fields
- Enable or disable standard behaviors (e.g., required subtasks, roadmap visibility)
Administrators can also click the New tracker button to create a new tracker. The setup process is the same as when editing an existing one.
There is also a Statistics option. This allows administrators to define which data fields (like assignee, priority, due date, etc.) should be available and tracked for each tracker type. This helps tailor each tracker to specific needs and use cases.
Conclusion
Trackers in Administration are essential for defining and customizing how tasks behave in Easy8. Administrators can create, edit, or delete trackers and control their fields, availability, behavior, and color coding. This enables better task categorization and more flexible project tracking.
