How to Use Knowledge Base Templates
Step 1: What Are Page Templates?
- Templates provide a predefined structure and layout for new pages.
- They ensure standardized formatting across content types like meeting notes, how-to guides, and product info.
Step 2: When to Use Templates
- Creating manuals or guides with repeated structure
- Filling in meeting minutes, agendas, reports
- Building process documentation or troubleshooting pages
Step 3: Create a Template Page
- Create a new page in the Template namespace
- Structure it using headers, tables, and semantic fields
- Note: Visual editing must be activated in the namespace settings
Step 4: Add Template to Page Templates Administration
- Admins must register the template in Global Actions > Management > Page templates
- Required fields:
- Name
- Description
- Namespace
- Template (the source page)
Step 5: Select a Template During Page Creation
- When creating a new page, templates appear under the default "Empty page" option
- Select the desired template to preload its content into the new page
- Namespace assignment controls which templates are shown
Step 6: Bind Template to a Button with a Droplet
- Use the Content droplet icon in the editor
- Select Create Page option
- Set the template in the Preloaded Page Content field
- Click Insert to place the button on any overview or navigation page
Step 7: Manage or Remove Templates
- To remove a template from the creation list, delete it from Page Templates Management
- Note: This does not delete the original page in the Template namespace
